Mechanical and Biological Experience
Hello! My name is Tom Park.

I am currently a Mechanical Engineer based in Long Island City, New York. I specialize in creating novel design solutions in a fast-paced "start-up" style environment. Throughout my career I have worked side-by-side with an in-house manufacturing team (often programming and operating the machines myself) and I have been fortunate to have a deep understanding of how a thoughtful design can tremendously improve the subsequent steps of the product development process. I make it my priority to create not only designs that work well but ones that are highly manufacturable with intuitive assembly.

In an earlier life, I worked to support botanical research and conservation efforts. I spent my time managing a project that immortalized centuries old fungal specimen on the internet by uploading their invaluable data onto an online repository known as the MyCoPortal. I am still very passionate about learning about the natural world and protecting it from exploitation and destruction.
